Nothing To Say

Today, I read this fact:

The Second Edition of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words in current use and 47,156 obsolete words.

That is one heck of a lot of words! With so many to choose from, why am I having such trouble putting 55 of them in a row?

***

Flash 55...can you tell a story in exactly 55 words? This is my attempt.  My strategy?  When all else fails, write about having nothing to write about!

Go see g-man for more, and maybe try one yourself

You did good!

I kinda wish we would bring back some of the obsolete words. Made them new and relevant again.

I find the problem is using ONLY 55 words. I usually start with more and whittle it down to 55.

Interesting info. I wonder how HUGE an Oxford dictionary would be on a coffee table?

Giggling. Nice 55. I like Brian's idea about insomnia. Maybe I'll try that tonight.

Oh, you are brilliant. That's a good writer's-block trick, to write about the writer's block. And you did it with a wonderful sense of humor. Cheers for you!

Sometimes, the muse just creeps up on you. I can't tell you how many times I've written about having nothing to write about.

Truly that is one I could have posted tonight, but I couldn't even be anywhere near that clever!

Witty, and clever you are, but reading the dictionary for those sleepless nights, I say go put some music on and dance... We all have our special cures,,

Nice 55er

Why bother with so many words, when your 55 made so much sense ?! ;-)

Keep writing, my friend...
Happy Weekend!

I feel this way a lot too! :)
Now I'm wondering what the 47,156 obsolete words are... and if it would be possibly to make a Friday-55 completely out of obsolete words...

BTW, My own Friday 55 was posted here yesterday. I'm just now getting around to visiting everyone. :)
